Nibiru Update #3 - The Torus
over 5 years ago – Mon, Dec 03, 2018 at 08:12:10 AM

Wow! Monday came in and we are scratching the £7000 mark!

The week is now rolling in, and since we started spreading the word we got in touch with podcasters and industry peeps to get more exposure. We'll be sending an email over to those who downloaded our QSG from DTRPG soon, as well as sending an email to some members of the London community, whom were crucial through the early stages of playtest.

We've also started talks with regards to distribution :) needless to say, things look promising, specially since we're receiving a good number of offers for translation. People are quite amazed at the game's premise, the setting, the art and our mechanics, which in turn makes us very proud! We now need one more big push to get us to the goal! I'd like to invite everyone to join in forces by spreading the word, sharing the campaign in social media, and just talking about it. We've built the Pilgrimage page not just to make it easier to do so, but also to reward your efforts. You can access it here: https://gleam.io/N2mgH/nibiru-pilgrimage

Now, into the more fun stuff...

I wanted to share a series of pictures of something we are working on. As you may well know, Nibiru has a series of life support systems built in—and most certainly, one of the most important ones is that of air circulation. This is where the Torus comes in.

The Torus is a massive ring; the largest locale in the whole of the Skyless World. It's a gigantic tube that encircles the Core, serving as the main artery for oxygen supply across the station. Its surface is blanketed by turbines and pumps that filter and propel the air so that it can be redistributed to each vault's life support module.

Humans (crafty bastards that they are) have been using this massive, dark tunnel to travel for a while. They do so in barges, which travel in a single direction (that of the air flow) around the Core. These are generally used for commerce between the communities of the Torus Corridor, (which is referenced and mapped in one of our physical maps!) composed of settlements and villages that are directly connected to the Torus.

We are currently working on a series of concepts for barges, and I wanted to share them with you so that you do not leave today without some eye candy, so... here we go!

Preliminary Sail Study (turning sails will be brought closer to the hull, adjustments will be made to stabilizer sails)

  See you around, Vagabonds!

Nibiru Update #2 - The Pilgrimage
over 5 years ago – Sun, Dec 02, 2018 at 07:58:26 AM

Hello Vagabonds! Today we've blown past the 50% line and we still have a big chunk of the day to go! We've also started talking a bit about the mechanics, as evidenced by the comment sections, and we've been getting great feedback from outside. People want to know more, and so we'll be lining up a couple of podcasts that'll be releasing during the campaign.

It's time, then, to talk about promotion of the game. So far we've been doing great with promotion via Facebook and Twitter, and we'll also be reaching out to our mailing list. But everything tends to be better with a bit of a creative twist :). A while ago, the playtest team had fun with a short campaign called "The Pilgrimage". It introduced one of the major factions of the station—the Pilgrims of the Core, which are the main religious cult in Nibiru—, and focused on the player characters travelling along with a caravan of Pilgrims from Umbra to the Core.

We had great fun, and I thought that maybe we could create a scheme where people "preach" the word in exchange for those adventures :) Each one works perfectly as a one-shot, so it works great even if you do not go the full length with promotion.

I estimated the distance (in steps) that it'd take for you to get from the point where the first story starts to the point where the last, fourth story begins. Turns out that's about 1705600 steps. So why not make this a thing?

Via the link above, you can gain entries (steps) for retweeting, sharing, and doing all kinds of social interactions. If the Kickstarter is successful, you'll receive the adventures up to the step count you got in PDF.

We did a sort of thing like this one during the last two Dragonmeets, where we gave out physical Quickstart Guides in exchange for retweets, subscriptions, etc. It worked out pretty well, so... why not?

Also, remember to use the same email you have registered with Kickstarter when using the Gleam application (which is the thing we are using for the social media campaign).

We had a blast playing with the guys at Red Moon Roleplaying a couple of months ago, and they recorded the session for you guys to enjoy :) so if you want a bit of a spooky actual play set in Umbra... here you go:

I'm not going to take more of your time, Vagabonds, so I'll tune out until the next update. We know we can do this!!! :D

Nibiru Update #1 - The First Steps
over 5 years ago – Sat, Dec 01, 2018 at 02:36:54 PM

Heyya backers! We are SUPER EXCITED to see you join us in this adventure! We are twelve hours in our Kickstarter, and just scratching the 40% funded line :) that's just amazing, and we couldn't have done it without your out-of-this-world support!

Daring to launch at a convention was certainly a challenge. We are exhausted, but happy beyond words about the feedback we've had, and the fact we found a group of amazing individuals to come explore the Skyless World with us. Some of you have been following Nibiru for what's been about two (!) years now, as we slowly worked our way through the intricacies and nuances of designing a detailed world that could captivate your imagination, and mechanics to do its themes justice. Others, whom have just found out about it, have had an incredibly enthusiastic response, and we are most certainly humbled about your shared excitement!

Believe me, it's because of all of your kind words and your backing that we've survived the whole trip—and its just the beginning!

Tomorrow, we'll be well rested to keep pushing for the first goal, chatting with everyone on social media and promoting the game with all our might. We can totally do this!

I also wanted to thank everyone who has hopped in with suggestions for pledges, stretch goals, and the likes. I've got you in my mind, and I'll make sure we consider all proposals to make this a campaign that feels personal and fleshed out to everyone's liking.

We'll be back tomorrow with more updates, so stay tuned Vagabonds!

Your adventure is about to start~
