Nibiru Update #38 - End of April
about 5 years ago – Sat, Apr 27, 2019 at 02:06:45 AM

Hello everyone!

We are getting a good rhythm with regards to survey filling. If for some reason you've not seen your email, let me know and I'll sort you out!

To let you know, backers are now enabled to change pledges, so you'll be able to do that with your survey if you so desire :)

In terms of production, there are plenty of good news. We are finishing the last of the settlement illustrations that Leon is doing, which will feature in the book and the posters. They come with references to the locations described in the book, and are looking stunning!

Here are the ones for Suruptu and Nataku (and a sketch of what's coming for Ashur):

Suruptu, in the Torus Corridor:

Nataku, in the Flooded Countries:

Ashur, in Gate's Shadow (sketch-not a final):

I'm super excited to see these in all their glory, along with Yuri's maps, in poster form :)

The editing for the books is done at about a 70%, and we are picking up the pace. The good thing with our current process is that layout is done beforehand, so once something is edited it goes straight into layout.  I'm aiming for the editing process to be done by the end of May.

Another update we have is that the mold for the dice has been redone. I received the new dice yesterday, and we polished the edges, made them much more neat, and corrected the error we had with the dice faces. Here's a pic comparison!

A lot of this has been a learning process, but I'm happy that we are so far making good progress on time. We should be opening the late pledge store this coming week, so stay in tune for more updates, and let me know if you have any questions!

See you soon, Vagabonds~

Nibiru Update #37 - Easter Update!
about 5 years ago – Mon, Apr 22, 2019 at 01:46:34 AM

Hello Vagabonds!

We're happy to say that the Backerkit surveys are out! We've locked out shipping prices (Brexit ain't a problem) and we should be set for late pledge phase in a couple of days.

I've been iterating on the book's writing, and by the end of April we should have about 3/4ths of the book edited :) I've had to pull in a couple of new artists to accelerate the process for the art production, and I remade the dice mold since there was an error in the dice faces (basically, there were four 3s and two 4s, making it a bit hard to succeed at stuff :P). That should also be corrected by the end of this month, leaving it ready to print.

In other news, we've signed the distribution contract, so we'll also announce our distributor soon :) I'm trying to get all the art set for each chapter before I release more preview PDFs, so as soon as I have the next one, I'll send it out! Next in line should be Umbra / Antumbra, depending on which of our artists deliver their piece first!

Stay tuned for more news, and follow us @Araukana1 for cool updates!

Nibiru Update #36 - End of March!
about 5 years ago – Wed, Mar 27, 2019 at 11:34:12 PM

Hello Vagabonds!

I wanted to give you an update on the current state of the game, so that you get a better picture of what's coming :)

We've so far released three chapters to all backers, the Introduction, the Storytelling Engines chapter (which contains all the game mechanics) and the Vagabonds chapter. Next month we should be able to squeeze in at least one more chapter for y'all, with the largest chapters being the three regional ones and the Flora, Fauna and AI chapter :)

The regional maps are being done, and we hope to be finished by the end of April (printing the maps will take just a couple of days, since we do that locally). To give you an idea, here's the finalized map for the Core Sectors:

As you can see, Nibiru is a pretty complex beast. This is just a tiny area of the station, and a lot of the detail in the map will be much easier to see in print :)

In other news, the dice mold is done (yay!) and we've received the first samples, which are looking great. These dice are HEAVY! But they feel amazing to roll, and we cannot wait to see you using them at the table.

The GM screen is also almost ready :) we are looking at the possibility of having a sleeve in one of the inner faces of the screen, so that you can fit your own adventure's notes. Nibiru is a pretty rules light system, so we figured that would be a good use for some of the space!

The last update I'll give y'all is that we are finalizing the BackerKit page, so soon we'll be opening that. We plan on letting people pledge for the original KS pledges during a short window (about 2 weeks) to allow for those who couldn't jump onto the campaign due to holiday season expenditures, and from then on it'll transition into the pre-order store.

Let us know if you need anything, and stay tuned for more updates!

Nibiru Update #34 - End of February Update!
about 5 years ago – Wed, Feb 20, 2019 at 10:16:59 PM

lo y'all!

I wanted to give you an update on what's happening on the Nibiru front :) currently I have several new artists working with us to accelerate art production, particularly of some of the stretch goals.

We are nailing down the look of the Nataku and the settlements of Umbra. Leon Tukker has joined in, with a lot of experience on evocative sci-fi urban art, and is starting to produce sketches on our villages and towns:

Yuri is one of our new artists, who has joined as well to work on the maps of Nibiru. We are working on maps that display the complex structures of the station, while at the same time highlighting the vaults and facilities that are mostly used by the peoples of Nibiru. This means that the highlighted areas are clear for everyone, while the deeper, hidden systems of the station are also partially revealed to inspire stories, so you can lead players into the deep structure of Nibiru:

In a couple of days, we'll get our post-Chinese New Year update regarding dice. Editing on the Vagabonds chapter is done, though I've held from sending it out since the cover art for that chapter is not done yet :) I'll probably send it out closer to the end of the month!

Also, we'll soon open up a short window for late pledges (since some people missed their chance due to having no money during the holiday season) which will then transition to our Pre-Order via Backerkit.

As always, let me know if you have any questions, and I'll see you around in the next update!

Stay tuned...
