Nibiru Update #45 - Quick Update, some personal stuff, and Dragonmeet!
over 4 years ago – Sun, Nov 03, 2019 at 11:17:37 PM

Hi Vagabonds!

I wanted to give you a quick update to let you know that we've sorted things out with the printer last week, and that everything is in order :) in the next few days I should be receiving samples at home, and I'll take and share pics with y'all as we get ready to receive the bulk of the order and ship it out.

I'm super excited to see you with your rewards at hand, and wanted to kinda set this off on a good note before the next monthly update.

There's also two important things of note I wanted to address regarding Dragonmeet.

The first one is that, given that we will be shipping stuff before the convention, I'll be selling the game there. I wanted to be up front with y'all about this, since I know that normally there's an expectation for everyone to have their rewards in hand before they see it being sold anywhere. This is mainly because of two things. First; I'm dirt poor. The KS was strictly done to finance all of the cool stretch goals and production, leaving pretty much nothing for gains, so it'd be wise for my personal finances to take Nibiru there. Secondly, this will be my last Dragonmeet, since I'll be moving to Japan mid next year (and having stable finances is what will allow me to continue running Araukana from there!). Dragonmeet is pretty much the only convention I frequent, we've been going there for two years, and I'd really like for the third one to see us with the game being sold for once.

With this considered, the second thing to address is that I want everyone who wants to retrieve their rewards at the convention to be able to do so. If you'll be there, you can send me an email to [email protected], and let me know of the name you've used to back us so that I can prep your rewards for pickup :)

I hope you have a nice start of November, and I'll be updating you soon again!

Thank you kindly,

Federico

Nibiru Update #44 - October Update! Printing Process (and How We Deal With It)
over 4 years ago – Mon, Oct 21, 2019 at 11:47:48 PM

Hi all!

October twenty something is around and so is our usual update! The past few weeks have been interesting to say the least. I've been on the edge for a good number of days due to the fact that the printing company has been quite hard to deal with. Specially because some of the stuff we are doing with Nibiru (like the sleeves in the screen, which had to be bought in a different country and shipped over to the printer, as well as the folding map within the book) tested our communication skills quite a bit.

I've pressed them to comply with the same shipping dates we started with, and the great thing is that the screen is already sorted. However, it was only during the past few days that I was told that the way in which the map-fold-insert is implemented requires me to, essentially, add three pages to the book so that the insert falls between the 8-page blocks that compose the inlay.

Two of those pages I've covered (luckily) by adding a spread ilustration that we had not utilized, and the third page, well... that'll be added content, most likely to the Torus section. That is not all, of course, since adding this means that all of the page counts and the references need to be tracked done and reworked, along with the index. Fun.

It's not a massive deal, but it is a lot of work, and that's basically what I'm doing now and have been doing for the past few weeks, going back and forth with the printer (we even had to change the tone of black used in the text from the whole book *panic emoji*). This is part of the reason why PDF fulfillment and our work to integrate with the Modiphius website has been delayed, since I barely had time to finish the accompanying track to the Corebook adventure, and to setup the new website (which you can check out here yay!).

Sorry if this month's update was a bit of a slog :P the printing process is a period of not much perceptible progress to backers, but a lot of sweat and tears on our side, so I'm very thankful for all the comments and the excitement you throw our way. I'll most likely be updating you earlier next time, since we'll be doing fulfillment and shipping next.

Stay tuned, Vagabonds!

Nibiru Update #43 - September Update! Printing Sendoff, Last Previews, Fulfillment
over 4 years ago – Sat, Sep 21, 2019 at 09:06:37 PM

Hi all!

September twenty something is here and another update on the way :) I listened to y'alls comments and decided to give some space for more feedback to come in. Also, I figured we could take advantage of a big bulk print Modiphius (our distributor) is carrying out at the beginning of October. That gave me extra time this weekend to do another proofing and quick check for errors, as well as an extra week to send any amendments needed from the printer (which already has the quote locked).

I also thought it'd be a good idea to just upload the last two chapter previews (check out the update after this one, backers!) which include the Narrators chapter and the corebook adventure, Watershed :)

I'll send the print files on Monday, and the rest of the week I'll be receiving any feedback left and sorting out the last detail, which is a small ambient track that will be embedded to the corebook PDF :)

Now, you might ask, what about the adventures and the maps?

The maps are ready to go to print :) that's happening via a different printer located in the UK (as opposed to the screen and the corebook which is printed in Lithuania) which is much faster and cheaper. This also applies to the adventures, which are being edited and laid out at the moment. The layout for those is already set though, so they should arrive at the warehouse before the corebook and the narrators screen :)

I'm super happy with the fact that we got the narrators screen with a sleeve. Means that I could lay out the adventures with a different format that ain't US letter,  made so that it can just slip into the narrators screen and you can use that middle pannel to refer to the text easily.

When it comes to PDFs, those should be with you around the first week of October. That basically sums up fulfillment! Aside from that, I've also redone the website, which is now focused on the company :) give it a look here!

As always, feedback and comments are super welcome <3

See you around, Vagabonds~
